Tripura Honors Excellence: List of recipients of Statehood Day Awards

On the occasion of Statehood Day, educationist Sushanta Kumar Chowdhury was posthumously conferred with the prestigious Tripura Bibhushan, a State Civil Award, for his outstanding contribution to education in the state. Late Chowdhury, a former Principal of MBB College, was represented by his son, Shubhendu Chowdhury, who received the award from Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha. The honor comprised a memento, a sash, a citation, and a cheque of Rs 5 lakh.

This year, five Civil Awards and ten Statehood Awards were presented. The Civil Awards included Tripura Bhushan, Sachin Debbarman Memorial State Award, Maharani Kanchanprabha Debi Memorial Award, and an award for significant contributions to science and environmental conservation.

Civil Awards 2025

  • Tripura Bhushan: Musician Pandit Subal Biswas was recognized for his remarkable contributions to music. The award included a memento, a sash, a citation, and a cheque of Rs 2 lakh.
  • Sachin Debbarman Memorial Award: Renowned tabla player Jawahar Banerjee received this award, which comprised a memento, sash, citation, and Rs 1 lakh.
  • Maharani Kanchanprabha Debi Memorial Award: Kumari Jyotsna Akhtar was honored for her work in women’s empowerment, receiving a memento, sash, citation, and Rs 1 lakh.
  • Science and Environment Conservation Award: Smita Datta Chowdhury received recognition for her contributions to environmental conservation. She was awarded a memento, sash, citation, and Rs 1 lakh.

Tripura-Bibhushan-AwardChief Minister’s Civil Service Awards 2025

The Chief Minister’s Civil Service Award recognized innovative initiatives:

  • IT Department: Awarded for exceptional performance in innovation.
  • Social Welfare and Social Education Department: Secured second place.
  • TRLM and Revenue Department: Shared the third position.

In the individual category, the first award went to DM Saju Wahid (South Tripura) for establishing Balika Manch to combat child marriage. The second award was given to BDO Dr. Sudip Bhowmik (Kumarghat Block) for implementing solar-powered rural electrification. The third award was presented to IFS Sumit Deb for his role in coordinating border security operations. Each recipient received a cheque of Rs 25,000, a citation, and a trophy.

Among non-gazetted employees, awards were presented to Bablu Namasudra (Cooperative Officer), Bisweswar Paul (Fishery Inspector), and Gopa Dey (ICDS Supervisor), each receiving Rs 10,000, a trophy, and a certificate. Additionally, Pushpal Deb from the ICA Department was honored for designing the State logo.

Statehood Awards 2025

The Statehood Awards recognized exceptional contributions across various fields:

  • Sunagarik Award: Posthumously awarded to Chiranjit De from Indranagar, Agartala, for sacrificing his life during flood rescue operations. His mother, Meena Dey, accepted the honor.
  • Best Start-Up Award: Ripan Das (Nagichera).
  • Horticulture Excellence: Kamal Debbarma (Charilam).
  • Fisheries Award: Sricharan Das (Kamalghat).
  • Animal Husbandry: Piyanki Debsharma (Pitra, Udaipur).
  • Rural Handicrafts: Pinku Kumar Nath (Dasda).
  • Industry Excellence: Bimal Singha (Kuchainala, Kamalpur).
  • Best Mobile App: Recognized the IT Department.
  • Cooperative Sector: Takarjala LAMPS for outstanding performance.
  • Best Education Award: Sushanta Chakraborty, Principal of Pallimangal HS School, received a memento, citation, and Rs 50,000.

Best Performing Districts and Blocks

  • Best Performing District: Dhalai.
  • Second Best District: South Tripura.
  • Top Blocks: Salema (1st), Boxanagar (2nd), Old Agartala (3rd).
