On the occasion of Statehood Day, educationist Sushanta Kumar Chowdhury was posthumously conferred with the prestigious Tripura Bibhushan, a State Civil Award, for his outstanding contribution to education in the state. Late Chowdhury, a former Principal of MBB College, was represented by his son, Shubhendu Chowdhury, who received the award from Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha. The honor comprised a memento, a sash, a citation, and a cheque of Rs 5 lakh.
This year, five Civil Awards and ten Statehood Awards were presented. The Civil Awards included Tripura Bhushan, Sachin Debbarman Memorial State Award, Maharani Kanchanprabha Debi Memorial Award, and an award for significant contributions to science and environmental conservation.

Chief Minister’s Civil Service Awards 2025
The Chief Minister’s Civil Service Award recognized innovative initiatives:
In the individual category, the first award went to DM Saju Wahid (South Tripura) for establishing Balika Manch to combat child marriage. The second award was given to BDO Dr. Sudip Bhowmik (Kumarghat Block) for implementing solar-powered rural electrification. The third award was presented to IFS Sumit Deb for his role in coordinating border security operations. Each recipient received a cheque of Rs 25,000, a citation, and a trophy.
Among non-gazetted employees, awards were presented to Bablu Namasudra (Cooperative Officer), Bisweswar Paul (Fishery Inspector), and Gopa Dey (ICDS Supervisor), each receiving Rs 10,000, a trophy, and a certificate. Additionally, Pushpal Deb from the ICA Department was honored for designing the State logo.
