Tripura Hosts First FPO-2025 Fair in Agartala to Empower Farmers and Boost Agriculture

The Tripura government is working for the welfare of women, youth, farmers, and the poor sections of society following the path shown by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister of Tripura, Ratanlal Nath made the statement on Monday while inaugurating the state's first FPO-2025 fair at Purvasha Maidan in Agartala.

He also said, the Prime Minister has given priority to the welfare of these sections of people. The goal of the state government is to build a developed Tripura with the cooperation of all sections of society.

During the event, the Agriculture Minister further said that farmers are our providers of food. To become self-reliant, everyone must encourage farmers.

Notably, FPO (Farmer Producer Organization) is an organization formed by farmers. Small and marginal farmers come together in an FPO to manage the production, processing, marketing, and business operations of their agricultural products.

The main objective is to promote the financial advancement of farmers, increase productivity, and sell crops at fair market prices. The central government launched a project in 2020 for the formation and development of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPO).

Inaugurating the three-day FPO fair, Agriculture Minister Ratanlal Nath also said that there are currently 58 FPOs in 58 blocks across the state. About 10,434 farmers from the state are working under these FPOs.

He mentioned during the previous government, the monthly income of farmers was approximately Rs 6,580. Now, the income of farmers has increased to Rs 13,590. He attributed this increase in farmers' income to various projects implemented by the state government.

In this context, he mentioned the implementation of projects like the KISHAN Samman Nidhi project, procurement of paddy at supportive prices, providing seeds and fertilizers at subsidized rates to farmers, distribution of agricultural machinery, soil testing, crop insurance schemes, and setting up Krishak Bandhu Kendra (Farmer's Friend Centers).

He also referred to the allocations for agriculture in the central budget presented in the Lok Sabha. He emphasized the need to build a self-reliant Tripura in all fields and urged everyone to come forward for this task. He wished for the success of the three-day FPO fair.
