Tripura News: Agartala Press Club Secy Ramakanta Dey bereaved
Ramakanta Dey, the secretary of Agartala Press Club, has lost his mother on Thursday. His mother, Bishnu Priya Dey, passed away at Cancer Hospital at 7:55 PM today. She was 71 years old at the time of her death. The news of her death cast a shadow of grief over the media fraternity.
Bishnu Priya Dey had been ill for the past few months. After being diagnosed with cancer, she was taken to Tata Memorial Hospital in Kolkata for better treatment. She was undergoing treatment in Kolkata. However, she was brought back to Agartala a few days ago.
Due to her deteriorating condition, she was admitted to the Regional Cancer Hospital in Agartala. But she passed away today despite the best efforts of the doctors.
She is survived by two sons, daughters-in-laws, granddaughters and a host of admirers. Her elder son Ramakanta Dey is out of the state. He will be arriving in the state by tomorrow's evening flight. The funeral will be held thereafter.
The Agartala Press Club expressed deep grief over her untimely demise. It has also expressed condolences to the family, including secretary Ramakanta Dey.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and several other leaders also expressed grief at the demise of Bishnu Priya Dey.
In a social media post, Dr Saha said, "I am deeply saddened by the news of the death of Bishnu Priya Devi, the mother of Ramakanta Dey, the secretary of the Agartala Press Club and a distinguished photojournalist. I express my condolences to her bereaved family and pray to God for the peace of the departed soul. Om Shanti".
Various media organisations also condoled the demise and extended sympathy to the bereaved family members.
