BJP members, Panchayat Secy beaten
Chaos broke out and tension ran high after a group of miscreants allegedly belonging to Tipra Motha attacked two BJP members of Development Committee (DC) and a Panchayat Secretary under East Tulamura ADC Panchayat on Thursday. Sources said, two members of the DC Rajkumar Jamatia and Bishnu Hari Jamatia were discussing some issue with Panchayat Secretary Sadhan Datta.
Meanwhile, a group of 70-80 youths allegedly supporters of Tipra Motha barged into the Panchayat Office and started beating all the three. According to Police Rajkumar Jamatia was critically injured and was referred to Gomati District Hospital.
After getting the information, BDO Abhijit Das and SDPO Dhruba Nath along with a large posse of Police force reached the spot and brought the situation under control. However, no one was arrested till the report filing. Tension in the area is running high.
3 NLFT surrender
Unable to bear more hardships in jungle life, three NLFT (BM) extremists, who fled away from Bangladesh hideout, laid down arms before Tripura Police on Thursday.
The three militants- Rupadhan Debbarma @Ruphai of Takarjala, Amush Tripura @Sengkgari of Manubazar and Dilip Debbarma @Momphal of Mungiakami have deposited one pistol along with five rounds live bullets and extortion notices at the time of surrender.
According to a press communiqué from Tripura Police, they had joined NLFT in early 2018 and undergone training in Myanmar and Bangladesh camps.
Escape bid of jail inmate foiled
Alertness of private security guards of Bishalgarh Sub-divisional Hospital foiled an escape bid of an inmate of the Central Correctional Home. According to Jail Police sources, the inmate, Bappi Sil, was brought to the hospital at around 11 am for conducting blood tests.
Sil entered the laboratory for the tests – later, he calmly came out of the lab and suddenly started running. Even before the Jail Police could sense what was happening, he was managed to run far away from the Police. However, noticing Bappi Sil running suspiciously, private security guards who were manning the Hospital gate chased him followed by the Jail Police.
After running almost a kilometer, Bappi Sil was nabbed. Private Guards and Jail Police brought Sil back to Hospital. Meanwhile, local people raised fingers at Jail Police Police.
