Tripura News: Guv, CEO urge voters to exercise their precious right to vote

Governor of Tripura Indrasena Reddy Nallu urged the voters of the state to exercise their precious right to vote on April 19 and April 26.

In a message to the voters of the State, the Governor said, “The 18th Lok Sabha Elections will commence on April 19 and on this day, polls will be held for the 1-Tripura West Parliamentary Constituency. On April 26, polls for the 2-East Parliamentary seat will be held. He also said India is the largest democratic country in the world. According to the constitution, everyone has the right to express their opinion by voting in elections. So elections are a celebration for us and every vote counts.”


Meanwhile, Chief Electoral Officer Punit Agarwal calls on voters to vote in a festive mood in Tripura West Parliamentary Constituency and 7 Ramnagar Assembly Constituency By-elections. He appealed on Thursday while inspecting the process of distribution of polling materials among the polling staff.

The Chief Electoral Officer was accompanied by Returning Officer of the Tripura West Parliamentary Constituency and District Magistrate of West Tripura Dr. Vishal Kumar, SDM of the Sadar sub-division Manik Lal Das and other officials.

In response to journalists' questions, the Chief Election Officer said the Commission is fully prepared to conduct and complete poll procedures in a fair, free and fear-free environment aiming to increase voters’ turnout.

He also said, considering the comforts of the voters, sheds at various polling stations were erected along with arrangement of drinking water. For senior citizens and physically unwell people, arrangements have been made to ensure that such voters do not face any difficulties in casting their votes.

Aiming to ensure complete transparency, webcasting will be done at every polling station. Polling workers have already reached the respective polling stations.
