Tripura News: Thieves arrive in car, loot cash but have to leave behind the car

Thieves arrived in a car eyeing for good heist. Apparently they were successful as they managed to decamp with cash and some other valuables – however, the left behind a trail of clues and also their car. The incident took place near SSB camp at Baikhora under Santirbazar area in South Tripura on Wednesday night.

After arriving in car, thieves silently broke open the door of Maa Kran Rubber shop. Hurriedly they were shifting the Rubber sheets from the shop and dumping in the car. Engrossed in looting, thieves did not inspect the shop properly and they could never think that their every movement was being recorded. There was CCTV camera installed in the shop.

Meanwhile, sitting in his residence, owner of the shop,  Uday Shankar Debnath was observing the burglary. Soon, he along with his two brothers arrived at spot.

For a moment, bewilderment and shock rattled the thieves after seeing the owner standing before them. Sensing danger, they attacked the Debnath and his brothers with rods injuring them.

As Debnath brothers raised an alarm, thieves in a swift and hurried move looted the cash from the cash box and ran away. According the owner, there was around Rs 3 lakh in the cash box.

In their desperate bid to flee away with the cash, they left behind their car bearing the number - TR03N0352 and looted rubber sheets.

Responding to call of Debnath brothers, people from neighbourhood rushed to the spot – soon Police force also reached. Police seized the car. With number plate fixed in the car, it will not be a tough job for Police to identify the owner of the car. However, it remains unknown till the report filing as to whether the car was a hired one. Whatever be, the car will make it easy for Police to reach the gang. Moreover, there are CCTV footages which will help to identify the thieves. Debnath family and local people are expecting that Police would be able to crack the case soon.
