Tripura Police Rescue Kidnapped Minor Girl from Gujarat; Accused Apprehended

Tripura Police with the help of the Gujarat Police recovered a minor girl of Tripura from Ahmedabad who was kidnapped in December last. The accused kidnapper was also arrested.

A police team from Kailashar was dispatched to Gujarat, after coordinating with the local authorities and apprehended the accused youth and rescued the minor girl from a police station in the Ahmedabad area.

The incident traces back to December 18, 2023, when the father of the victim minor girl lodged a complaint at Kailashhar women Police Station in Tripura, alleging that his daughter was kidnapped by a youth from the Kanchanpur area. Acting swiftly, the police registered the case under section 366 IPC and initiated a thorough investigation. 

On Monday, OC of the Kailashar women PS Ripita Bhattacharjee and SDPO Jayanta Karmakar held a press conference to inform the media over the rescue operation.

The SDPO said police started investigation on December 18 soon after receiving the complaint. Police used mobile tracking and other advanced systems to locate the accused kidnapper.

"Using a combination of scientific technology and cybercrime tracking, the police were able to locate the minor girl and the accused in Gujarat", the SDPO said.

Based on the information, Police personnel of Gujarat were contacted. Eventually, with the help of police from Ahmedabad Korortakola PS, the accused Amit Chandra Das and the victim were picked up on March 24. 

Following the completion of the official procedures, Amit Chandra and the minor girl were brought back to the Kailashar PS. After medical check the girl was handed over to her family members. 

The accused was produced before the Court on Monday and was sent to Jail remand. He will be produced before the Court on March 27 next.
