Tripura Pradesh Congress hits streets with revamp drive

Tripura Congress leaders and workers are trying to revamp the Party organization in the State – Congress failed to win in a single seat in 2018 Assembly Polls and Tripura Tribal Area Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) Polls. The Party also failed to make a mark in Urban Local Body Polls in recent time.

Tripura-Pradesh-Congress-Assembly-Election-Gomati-DistrictDespite repeated poll drubbings, Tripura Pradesh Congress leaders are hoping for a good show in June 23 by-polls and 2023 Assembly Polls.

As part of its drive to rejuvenate the organization, Congress held a joining programme at Bagma under the Gomati District on Monday. Several leaders including the Central leader Szarita Laiphlang were present in the programme.

According to Central Congress leader Szarita Laitphlang, more than 100 voters joined hands with Congress quitting other parties.

Meantime, Congress activists have started door-to-door campaigns for 8-Bordowali and 6-Agartala Assembly Constituencies.

After Tripura Pradesh Congress announced Ashish Kumar Saha as the Congress nominee for the 8-Bordowali constituency, Saha’s supporters have started both the whisper campaigning and interacting with the voters of his constituency.

On Sunday, Saha hit the campaign trails with a rally. Saha who won from 8-Bordowali constituency in the 2018 Assembly elections on a BJP ticket, is once again on the electoral battlefield before the term of the Assembly expired as he resigned from MLAship and BJP this year.

In 2018, Saha had a cakewalk as he defeated his nearest All India Forward Bloc candidate by a huge margin.

On a BJP ticket, Ashish Saha polled 24293 votes compared to Forward Bloc’s Biswanath Saha 13115. However, this year's picture appears to be different as incumbent Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha of the BJP is likely to contest from 8 Bordowali seat.

Meantime, supporters of Sudip Roy Barman also started campaigning Even as no formal announcement was made. A group of Congress supporters went on a door-to-door campaign at Indranagar area under the 6 Agartala Assembly Constituency.

Sudip Roy Barman won 6 Agartala seat in the 2018 Assembly polls on a BJP ticket. According to his supporters, Sudip Roy Barman would contest from 6- Agartala constituency on Congress ticket in the by-poll.
