Tripura Pradesh Congress Raises Alarm on Economy, Vows to Mobilize Farmers and Laborers

Tripura Pradesh Congress claimed Indian economy is facing tough time at present. The party also pointed out foreign exchange reserves of the country has worsened. With two-thirds of its population being engaged in agriculture and labor, present situation of the economy is alarming, the leaders argued and said several demands have been raised to tackle these urgent concerns.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the Tripura Pradesh Congress has decided to mobilize the state's farmers and laborers to amplify their grievances. TPCC spokesperson Prabir Chakraborty announced this initiative during a press conference at the Pradesh Congress headquarters in Agartala on Friday.

He said, a state-level conference of the All Tripura Unorganized Workers Congress is scheduled for February 16 in Teliamura. This gathering aims to unite and empower the state's unorganized workforce, fostering the momentum for meaningful socio-political transformation. The Congress leader also mentioned, the Pradesh Congress is strategically restructuring its various organizations to lead this movement.  

Chakraborty emphasized the widespread hardships faced by workers, farmers, unemployed youth, and women under BJP governance, asserting that removing the BJP from power is essential.

The upcoming conference marks a move in the Pradesh Congress’s broader plan to strengthen the agricultural and labor sectors, urging them to assert their rightful role in national development while challenging the current political system responsible for their marginalization.

In Tripura, the Congress leadership is facing tough task of gaining grounds and build up a solid organizational base. In absence of effective grass root level organization, the party is facing electoral routs. All-India performance of the Congress is also not favouring a wavein favour of the Congress. State Congress leaders are hopeful that conference of the unorganized sector people would help to strengthen the base.   

Notably, in the last Assembly polls, Congress in alliance with CPIM could manage to win only three seats in 60-member Assembly.
