UDAN 4.0 connects Agartala with Shillong, Dibrugarh
The Government has included additional 78 air routes under the fourth round of UDAN scheme – the scheme aims at improving regional connectivity. Among these newly included air routes, two flights will connect Agartala with Shillong and Dibrugarh.
UDAN scheme is playing a crucial role in connecting smaller places like North East region which are unserved or underserved.
Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb hailed the move and thanked the Prime Minister as well as the Aviation Minister for further enhancing air connectivity in the region.
In a tweet, Deb said, I humbly thank @PMOIndia Shri Narendra Modiji & Shri Hardeep S Puri for sanctioning flights between Agartala & Shillong, Agartala & Dibrugarh under UDAN scheme These flights will be helpful for people from all walks of life & boost the economy, tourism & connectivity in the region.
Under the UDAN scheme, flight operations between smaller places are being encouraged by keeping airfares affordable as well as financial incentives are being provided to selected Airlines by the Central Government, State Government and other stakeholders.
