Agartala/Jampui Hill May 8: A group of 68 Probationary Officers from Bihar State Administrative Service visited Jampui Hill RD Block on Thursday (May 8), and they were warmly received and hosted by the Block Development Officer (BDO) Debabrata Roy, TCS.
This one day visit was all the more successful with the interactive session organised at Vanghmun YMA Hall, where local community leaders also fully participated. The BDO’s formal welcome speech was followed by a speech from Dr Zairemthiama Pachuau, General Secretary of Mizo Convention.
He highlighted positive personal experiences he had during his five years stay of medical training at Nalanda Medical College in Patna, Bihar’s capital. He testified that contrary to the negative assumptions and stereotypes people have about the people of Bihar, he found them to be caring, honest, polite, helpful and multitalented; and admitted he did not experience even a single negative treatment from the locals during his stay.
He also encourage the young officers to be proud of themselves, their state and its people and continue to work diligently in their respective responsibility for maximum positive impacts on the individuals, families, and communities they serve.
Lalnunsanga, Vice president of Mizo Convention spoke about the history of Jampui Hill and of Vanghmun village, and how community’s own initiatives and government programmes synergistically work together for all round development within the RD Block.
He also informed the officers that Jampui Hill and Vanghmun village were the cleanest part and cleanest village of Tripura state, and on how, who and since when this was achieved.
Here also, he highlighted that community’s initiative that compliments with government efforts and programmes made it happened. He also brought out plan, strategy and road map to make Jampui Hill the cleanest place of India and a model RD Block under the leadership of the BDO.

After the indoor session ended, a “Cleanest Village Tour” of Vanghmun village followed under the leaderships of JD Mawia, Mizo Convention president and Zarzoliana Zongte, Vanghmun Village Council President.
This special activity was thoroughly enjoyed by the visiting officers with each one of them taking home with them their favourite instagram photos of the picturesque Jampui Hill.
