‘Mann Ki Baat’ provided valuable feedback to policy makers: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said Mann ki Baat programme has showcased the strength of people in society as people’s power is of immense significance in a democracy. In his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, Mr Modi said the programme has provided valuable feedback to the policy makers. He said that through this programme many inputs have started coming from grass root level. The Prime minister said it is now in true sense maan ki baat of all countrymen.

Sharing his thoughts in the twelveth edition of Mann ki Baat, Mr Modi complimented All India Radio for doing a commendable job. The Prime minister said on the anniversary of this programme, over fifty five thousand people have telephoned to share their issues and suggestions.

He said many differently abled people, who are without vision, called him up after listening Mann ki Baat as radio plays an important role for them. Mr Modi said lakhs of letters received on the programme has taught him invaluable lessons.

The Prime minister said Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose used this medium of radio to communicate with people and informed them about the freedom movement. Mr Modi informed that he is eagerly waiting to meet all the family members of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose next month at his residence in the capital. The prime minister during his visit to Kolkata had invited the entire family members of Netaji including those living abroad.

Describing the huge response of the programme, he said selfie-with-daughter is a silent revolution. Mr Modi said people’s approach towards daughters is changing. He also expressed satisfaction that 30 lakh families have given up subsidised LPG cylinders. In response to a suggestion from a girl, Mr Modi lauded Election commission’s role that has evolved from being a regulator to a facilitator. Mr Modi also complimented the Election Commission of India for increase in voters’ participation and awareness. The Prime minister urged youths to enroll as voters and cast their votes.

The Prime minister said he has received a message from Rajasthan’s Pawan Acharya. Mr Acharya in his message urged that people should use environment friendly earthen lamps during this diwali which will benefit potters. Mr Modi also called on people to use khadi during this festive season. Inviting all to visit Shauryanjali exhibition presently being held at India Gate lawns to commemorate the victory of 1965 war, the prime minister said it is essential for people to stay with country’s roots.

Mr Modi appreciated a small boy’s comment where he has urged the Prime minister to ask for dustbins to be put up everywhere in the country for the Swacchta abhiyan. The prime minister said for Mahatma Gandhi, cleanliness was more important than freedom. He said all should strive for fulfilling Gandhiji’s dream of swacchata when the nation celebrates his 150th anniversary in 2019.
