Agartala, March 24, 2019: In a significant development, the Saffron party today made strong inroad into minority community which hitherto did not show noticeable interests towards BJP in last Assembly Polls in 2018. In an election rally held in Sonamura under West Parliamentary Constituency in Tripura, more than 1350 voters of 550 families – most of them belong to minority community – today joined BJP.
In last Assembly Polls, BJP candidates were defeated in almost all the muslim dominated seats – and it was largely believed that minority community has little interest in BJP – this idea was further intensified during Rahul Gandhi’s recent public rally near Agartala where minority community people were present in impressive number.
However, today’s election rally at Sonamura may prove to be significant day, as supporters from Congress and CPIM – mostly of minority community – formally joined BJP. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb formally welcomed the new entrants into the Saffrom brigade. Today’s development will surely bolster prospects of BJP candidate for West Parliamentary seat Pratima Bhowmik.
