The auspicious Eid-ul-Adha was celebrated in Agartala and other parts of the State with religious fervor and fun fare on Monday. Muslim devotees offered prayers at various mosques today morning. The main Eid prayer in the state was held at the Gedu Mia Mosque in Agartala. Maulana Abdur Rahman led the Eid prayers at the Gedu Mia Mosque at 10 am.
He was accompanied by Maulana Mainul Haque. After offering prayers, devotees exchanged greetings. Eid prayers were performed at all the mosques and Eidgahs in the state. Gedu Mia Mosque Imam Maulana Abdur Rahman greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Eid.
Among other places, the people of Boxanagar and Sonamura celebrated the holy Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” on Monday, strengthening the bonds of peace and harmony and illuminating the glory of sacrifice.
From the morning, devout Muslims from the community performed prayers at various Eidgahs in Boxanagar and Sonamura in accordance with Islamic traditions. Melas (fairs) were organized in various places to mark the Eid festival.
People from other communities also greeted the Eid of the Muslims, upholding the state’s tradition of harmony. There have been no reports of any untoward incidents related to Eid today.
After offering prayers in the morning, the worshipers embraced each other and exchanged greetings.
Children also participated in the prayers, dressed up in their best attire. At the end of the prayers, money was distributed to the poor as fitrah.
Eid prayers were held in various places in the Muslim-dominated Sonamura and Boxanagar. Among these, the largest Eid prayer was held at the Central Eidgah Maidan in Boxanagar. MLA Tofażżal Hossain greeted the people of the state on Eid after offering Eid prayers. Nearly two to three thousand people attended the Eid prayers at the Boxanagar Central Eidgah Maidan.
The prayers were led by Maulana Shafiqul Islam, the head of the Boxanagar Central Mosque. Muslim devotees participated in the Eid prayers, upholding the age-old tradition of Eid by wearing pajamas, panjabis, handkerchiefs in their hands, and caps on their heads.
