New Delhi May 16, 2025 (IANS): In a significant development, the Supreme Court has issued an interim directive ordering the West Bengal government to release 25% of the outstanding Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears to its state government employees.

Advocate Firdous Samim, representing the petitioners, confirmed the court’s decision, stating, “The Hon’ble Supreme Court has passed an interim order in the matter concerning Dearness Allowance for West Bengal’s state employees. As per the ruling, the state government is mandated to disburse 25% of the pending DA amount.”

The matter pertains to long-standing demands from government employees in West Bengal seeking disbursement of their due DA, which has remained unpaid for an extended period. The Supreme Court’s interim intervention brings partial relief to thousands of affected workers, while the case continues to be under judicial consideration.
