Swearing-in Day: ‘Festival for West Bengal people’
Kolkata: West Bengal BJP President Samik Bhattacharya on Friday declared that all arrangements for the formation of the new government in the state are complete, describing the occasion as a “festival” for the people of Bengal.
Government Formation Preps
Speaking ahead of the ceremony scheduled for Saturday morning, Bhattacharya said the BJP leadership was fully prepared for the transition of power in the state.
“The preparations for forming the government have already been completed. The oath-taking ceremony will take place tomorrow at 10 a.m. The Prime Minister, Defence Minister, Home Minister, and several Chief Ministers will attend the programme,” he said.
He added that the entire BJP leadership would remain present during the swearing-in ceremony.
Symbolic Importance of the Ceremony
Bhattacharya said the formation of the government in Bengal held historic and emotional significance for the party.
“Tomorrow is a festival in West Bengal. The government is being formed on the land of Syama Prasad Mookerjee, who sacrificed his life for the unity and integrity of the country,” he stated.
According to him, the new government also symbolises the sacrifices made by BJP workers in the state over the years.
BJP Remembers Slain Party Workers
The BJP state president claimed that several party workers had lost their lives during political struggles in Bengal over the past decade and a half.
“This government belongs to the 312 BJP workers who sacrificed their lives over the last 15 years,” Bhattacharya said.
Reaction to Assembly Dissolution
Responding to West Bengal Governor R. N. Ravi dissolving the Legislative Assembly, Bhattacharya termed it a constitutional matter and distanced the BJP from the decision.
“That is a constitutional provision. It is an issue between Mamata Banerjee and the Governor. We have no role or interference in it,” he remarked.
killing of Chandranath Rath
Bhattacharya also reacted to the killing of Chandranath Rath, close aide and Personal Assistant to BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari.
He said the police were investigating the matter and closely monitoring the situation.

Rath was shot dead late Wednesday night while returning home after attending a party event in Madhyamgram in North 24 Parganas district.
According to reports, he sustained multiple bullet injuries to his head, chest and abdomen. He was taken to Viva City Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
On Thursday, Suvendu Adhikari described the incident as “heart-wrenching” and alleged that it was a pre-planned murder and executed after prolonged surveillance. (Edited)
