October 27, 2018: Rafale issue sparked tension at Belonia in South Tripura district today as the Opposition took out a rally demanding probe into alleged scam. Local sources said, as the rally started, a group of unidentified miscreants pelted stone targeting the protesters which left several Party workers including leaders injured.
Although Police sources said, no one was injured, CPIM sources claimed three Party leaders – former MLA Basudeb Majumder, Parikshit Mura Singh and CPIM South District secretary Tapas Dutta – were injured in the attack along with several other party workers. Sources said, an uneasy calm is prevailing at this moment in the area.
As part of the decision taken in the CPIM State Committee meeting yesterday, CPIM held a rally demanding probe by the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) into the alleged scam in Rafale deal and resignation of Defence Minister Nirmala Sitaraman. Despite heavy security, the rally came under stone pelting.
“However, stone pelting could not stop us. We reached our pre-scheduled place braving the brick pelting”, CPIM sources said.
