Agartala, August 25, 2019 : Purvaudaya, an NGO committed to undertake all out endeavors for development in rural areas of the state in particular, and North East India in general, with a special focus on empowerment of women, launched a Swachh Bharata campaign and tree plantation programme at Jogendra Nagar Girls High School on Sunday.

Keeping in mind Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s anti plastic approach -that he dwelt specifically in Mann Ki Baat on Sunday- Purvaudaya distributed biodegradable bamboo made bins for all classes in the school.

The programme was attended by students of the schools, teachers, local elders, people from cross section of the society in and around Jogendranagar. Speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly Shri Rebati Mohan Das graced the programme as chief guest.

The students of the school also displayed some of their environment friendly inventions in an exhibition which were also highly appreciated by all present.

General Secretary of the Purvaudaya, Niti Deb in her speech exhorted the young students to inculcate among them a sense of Swachh Bharata and asked them to ensure that their classes and school premise remained clean all the time.

She also announced that after some months the Class which would be considered by the school authorities as the ‘cleanest’ would also be awarded by Purvaudaya. Niti Deb after plantation of trees in the school premise also in an interview dwelt upon the Amazon catastrophe and its devastating fall out. She stressed on the need for massive plantation drive all over the world to meet the imminent environmental disaster in the wake of the Amazon forest fire.

State Assembly Speaker Das also spoke in details of the global environmental imbalance that looms large. He conveyed gratitude to Purvaudaya for undertaking the Swachh Bharat programme and tree plantation in the school which falls in his assembly constituency.

Also spoke on the occasion president of Purvaudaya Alaka Sinha.

The programme started with one-minute silence in memory of former Union Minister late Arun Jaitely. All assembled also listened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann ki Baat before launching the programme.
