Statehood Day: President, PM greet people of Tripura

New Delhi, January 21, 2020 (IANS) President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Ministers’ of Tripura, Manipur and Meghalaya on Tuesday greeted the people of the three states on their Statehood Day.

On this day in 1972, the three states attained full statehood under the North Eastern Region (Reorganisation) Act, 1971.

Statehood Day: President, PM greet people

Taking to Twitter, President Ram Nath Kovind wrote: “Greetings to the people of Tripura, Manipur and Meghalaya on Statehood Day. My best wishes to all the residents of these beautiful states for a bright and prosperous future.”

The Prime Minister also extended hreetings. Tweeting that he was proud of Tripura’s traditions and contribution to national development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said: “Statehood Day greetings to my sisters and brothers of Tripura. We are proud of Tripura’s exemplary traditions and contribution to national development. It’s people are known for their industrious nature. I pray for the continued prosperity and well-being of Tripura’s citizens.”

Taking to the micro-blogging site, Union Home Minister wrote: “Warm wishes to my sisters and brothers of Tripura on their Statehood Day. Tripura is known for its history & rich culture. I am sure that the state will continue to flourish under the leadership CM Shri @BjpBiplab. May Maa Tripura Sundari bless everyone with peace & prosperity.

Statehood Day: Manipur, Meghalaya

In a series of Tweets, Prime Minister extended his greetings, wrote: “On Manipur’s Statehood Day, my greetings to the people of the wonderful state. Manipur is known for its vibrant culture. People from Manipur have made a mark in various fields. May the state keep progressing in the years ahead.”

Talking about Meghalaya’s kind and compassionate nature, Modi said: “The people of Meghalaya are known for their kind and compassionate nature. From sports, music to the conservation of nature, there is much to learn from them. Praying for Meghalaya’s development in the coming years.”

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh greeted the people and wrote: “Greetings and best wishes to the people of Manipur on the occasion of 48th Statehood Day.  Easy living of the people in a society is a sign of good governance and our Government will do everything possible to bring a self-sustained and easy livelihood to the people of the State.”

“My greetings to beloved people of Manipur on their Statehood day. Wishing more prosperity and happiness to the lovely people of the Northeastern State,” wrote Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma extended the greetings and wrote: “Today marks the 48th #Statehood day of #Meghalaya. We are committed more than ever to uphold the vision of our leaders who stood united in the #HillStateMovement for the future of our State and its people. We stand committed to fulfill that vision till today. Happy Meghalaya Day!”
