Agartala, July 25, 2019: Guru and disciple tradition is one of the oldest noble traditions in India – such long-lasting tradition is rare in the whole world. With the evolution of time, mode of guru-disciple heritage has also been changed – however, even today, we pay ultimate respects to our parents and gurus. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said this after inaugurating ‘Guru Laho Pranam’ as part of Guru Purnima celebration in Agartala today.
Information and Cultural Affairs department organized the programme. In the programme, State Government felicitated Sitar Guru Sumedha Debbarman, Nitya Guru Nani Deb, Sports Guru Bimal Kumar Roy Choudhury with Shawls, citations and cash of worth Rs 10,000 each. The Chief Minister and president of Sri Sri Santikali Welfare Society Chittaranjan Maharaj felicitated the Gurus.
Speaking on the occasion, Chittaranjan Maharaj said, Guru is the person who takes his disciples from darkness to enlightenment. Guru is greatest guide in our society. Several other dignitaries also highlighted significance of Gurus in our society
