Agartala Aug 26: In a significant step toward enhancing healthcare accessibility, Agartala Government Medical College and Gobind Ballabh Pant (GBP) Hospital have decided to introduce a dedicated counter to provide free outsourced diagnostic tests for inpatients.
This initiative was approved during the governing body meeting of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti (Patient Welfare Committee) on August 25 at Agartala Government Medical College and Gobind Ballabh Pant (GBP) Hospital.
The facility targets beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana, priority groups, Antyodaya, and Below Poverty Line (BPL) categories.
Several other decisions were made during the governing body meeting which was chaired by the committee’s chairperson, MLA Meena Rani Sarkar.
Other attendees included Vice-Chairman Dr. Ashok Sinha, committee members and corporators Tushar Kanti Bhattacharya and Hiralal Debnath, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Health Directorate Officer Dr. Tapan Majumdar, GBP Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Shankar Chakraborty, and Principal of Agartala Government Medical College Dr. Anup Kumar Saha.
According to a Government press release, decisions were also made to enhance the quality of the Central Lab at Agartala Government Medical College and introduce new advanced diagnostic facilities to provide better services to patients.
It was decided to urgently procure medicines for the Trauma Care, Emergency Medicine, and Pediatric Departments using the National Health Mission’s untied funds.
For patient convenience, suggestion or complaint boxes will be installed at various locations in the hospital by the Patient Welfare Committee, where patients and their attendants can submit written feedback or complaints for review and necessary action by the authorities.
Besides, 10 civil service volunteers will be appointed to the “May I Help You” desk at Agartala Government Medical College to assist patients and their families in accessing hospital services efficiently.
Several other decisions were also made to improve healthcare services for patients.
