Resignation of Bengal Governor

Earlier in the day, a significant political development unfolded in West Bengal when Governor C. V. Ananda Bose stepped down from his post ahead of the forthcoming Assembly elections.

Reacting to the development, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had informed her about the resignation.

Banerjee also said she was told that R. N. Ravi would be the next Governor of the state.

In a statement posted on her X handle, Banerjee expressed shock over the sudden resignation of Bose.

She said the reasons behind his decision were not known to her.

However, she added that given the political climate ahead of the Assembly polls, she would not be surprised if pressure had been exerted on the Governor by the Union Home Minister to advance certain political objectives. (With IANS inputs)
