The recognition came from Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), which functions under the Rural Development Department of the Government of Tripura.

The award ceremony took place at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan during a grand state-level programme attended by senior government officials, banking representatives, Self Help Group (SHG) members, and development partners.

Chief Minister Manik Saha handed over the award in the presence of senior officials including Abhishek Singh and Tarit Kanti Chakma.

The honour recognised the bank’s contribution to rural financial inclusion, women entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihood development across Tripura.

Strong Focus on SHG Empowerment and Rural Development

Tripura Gramin Bank has played an active role in supporting Self Help Groups across rural areas. Through targeted banking initiatives, the institution helped women entrepreneurs gain easier access to credit facilities and financial services.

Officials stated that the award reflected the bank’s long-term commitment to people-centric banking and inclusive socio-economic development. The bank has partnered with various rural development schemes and livelihood programmes to improve financial accessibility among economically weaker communities.

The Samriddhi 2.0 campaign particularly focused on empowering SHG members, popularly known as “SHG Didis,” by strengthening their financial independence and livelihood opportunities.

During the programme, TRLM also felicitated top-performing bank branches and administrative blocks for their contribution to the success of the campaign.

News Analysis

The Samriddhi 2.0 campaign reflects Tripura’s growing focus on rural financial inclusion and women-led economic development. The recognition of Tripura Gramin Bank indicates the increasing importance of regional banks in delivering government-backed livelihood programmes.

The ₹289 crore loan sanction figure also highlights the expanding role of SHGs in the rural economy. Access to institutional credit remains one of the biggest challenges for rural women entrepreneurs. Programmes like Samriddhi 2.0 attempt to bridge this gap through coordinated efforts between banks and development agencies.

The felicitation of Bank Sakhi Didis suggests that grassroots-level banking facilitators are becoming critical for financial literacy and inclusion in remote regions of Tripura. Their involvement strengthens trust between rural communities and formal financial institutions.

The launch of “UDAN” further signals TRLM’s effort to build awareness and visibility around women empowerment initiatives. It may also help inspire more women to join SHGs and livelihood programmes in the future.
