Tripura Government has launched two new schemes for the media persons of the State. The two schemes are titled as Tripura Journalists Samman Pension Scheme-2021 and Journalists’ Parivaar Suraksha Pension Scheme-2021.
In a meeting of the State Council of Minister, chaired by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb approved the two schemes.
Under the Pension Scheme – 2021, the journalists of the State will get a pension of Rs. 10,000 per month after retirement.
As per the Journalists’ Parivaar Suraksha Pension Scheme-2021, if any journalist dies while working, the family of the journalist will get a pension of Rs. 5,000 per month.
With the State Cabinet’s nod on these two schemes, long standing demand of media persons has been fulfilled.
Media fraternity of the State thanked the State Government for approving the two schemes. In a statement, Agartala Press Club hailed the decision. Secretary of the Agartala Press Club, Pranab Sarkar appreciated the move and congratulated the Biplab Kumar Deb-led State Government.
“The decisions not only fulfilled long-standing demand of the journalists but also gave the possibility of permanent solution to the financial crisis of the journalists,” Sarkar said.
Besides, Amarpur Press club in a social media post also congratulated the decision taking for the welfare of media persons.
Meanwhile, Tripura Journalists Union and several senior journalists of the State hailed the decision.
“While pension scheme will ensure social security of a journalist after retirement, Journalists’ Parivaar Suraksha Pension Scheme-2021 is a wonderful gesture of the State Government towards the media community of the State as the scheme aims at helping the family of a media persons who died while working”, commented a senior journalist.
