With a new dream, for the first time in the State, ‘Start-up Week’ initiative of the Tripura Government was inaugurated, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said this on Monday. He also said a total of 2000 youths got connected with the ‘Start Up’ on the first day. Moreover, there are 35 Start Ups in National Portal.

Union IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad inaugurated the Start Up Tripura Portal and logo virtually today. The IT Minister said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to all to make the nation as world class power house in digital technology. Accordingly several schemes including Start Up India were launched. Along with the entire country, these schemes are now expanding in North Eastern region, Ravi Shankar Prasad commented.

The ‘Start Up’ movement is the result of joint initiatives of the Union IT Ministry, State Government, NASSCOM and STPI. Notably, an agreement was signed between the Tripura Government and NASSCOM – which is first of its kind in North East – for the project.

Thanking the Union IT Minister, Biplab Kumar Deb said, “Tripura is a geographically small State but there is no requirement of large areas for Start Ups. Markets in neighbouring Bangladesh provide us the biggest advantage. This advantage can benefit us economically”.

In this connection, Deb recalled the efforts of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina and said, “The Chittagong Port was opened as a result of the hard work of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji and Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina. The Maitri Bridge was also inaugurated facilitating road connectivity between Tripura and Bangladesh. Our goal is to develop in the field of IT as well. This will create new avenues for job-seekers”.

Ending on an optimistic note, the Chief Minister said, “I hope this initiative of the Tripura government will be an inspiration to the younger generation of the entire North East region. We will be able to attain the dream of the Prime Minister to make the North East an economic hub”.

Among others, Chief Secretary to Tripura Government, Kumar Alok, Secretary to the GoI, Ajay Prakash Sawani, president of NASSCOM Debjani Ghosh, Director General of STPI Dr Onkar Rai, eminent businessman Anil Agarwal, CEO of Flipcart Kalyan Krishnamurthi were present in the programme.
