Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has asked state departments to set fixed targets and timelines for viable investment projects as the government moves to convert commitments made at the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026 into operational projects and employment opportunities.

Key Takeaways:

  • Tripura has received concept notes and detailed proposals for more than 158 investment projects.
  • CM Manik Saha ordered 100-day action plans and monthly reviews to speed up project implementation.
  • The state will prioritise tourism, healthcare, IT, renewable energy, agriculture, food processing and EV charging.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has directed state departments to speed up the implementation of more than 158 investment projects for which concept notes and detailed proposals have been received.

He asked Secretaries and Directors to prepare 100-day action plans for all feasible projects. Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha will review their progress every month. The move aims to accelerate investment and employment generation in the state.

The review focused on projects linked to Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed during the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026.

Government Shifts Focus to Project Implementation

Dr Saha said Tripura must now convert investment opportunities into actual projects. He stressed that investment should create jobs and support economic growth.

“The huge investment potential that has opened up in Tripura must be implemented quickly and transformed into employment and economic development,” he said.

The Chief Minister also called for clear targets for every investment proposal. He said departments must complete the projects within specific timelines.

The government has linked the investment drive with three key objectives. These are increasing the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), creating new employment and promoting the socio-economic development of people in Tripura.

458 MoUs Worth Over Rs 1.30 Lakh Crore

During the meeting, Dr Saha said 458 MoUs involving investments of more than Rs 1.30 lakh crore had been signed at the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026.

The latest review indicates a shift from signing investment agreements to following up on their implementation. Officials are now examining project proposals, communicating with investors and collecting Detailed Project Reports (DPRs).

Kiran Gitte, Secretary to the Chief Minister and Secretary of the Industries and Commerce Department, briefed the meeting on the progress of the MoUs.

He also outlined potential areas for industrial development and investment. The discussion covered ways to use Tripura’s own resources and existing infrastructure to attract new investments.

Priority Sectors Identified

Dr Saha called for greater focus on sectors with investment potential in Tripura.

The priority areas include tourism, healthcare, education, skill development and information technology. Renewable energy, agriculture and food processing also figure in the list.

The government will also focus on fish processing, dairy, livestock and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

The Chief Minister stressed the need to build industries around Tripura’s natural and agricultural resources. He called for greater emphasis on value-added products to increase the economic value generated within the state.

Land, Power and Infrastructure Bottlenecks

Dr Saha directed officials to address problems related to land, power and infrastructure without delay.

He said departments must maintain regular communication with investors. He also asked them to improve coordination among government agencies.

Each department will appoint designated nodal officers to coordinate with investors. The officers will help identify pending issues and support faster resolution.

The Chief Minister also called for simpler and more transparent administrative procedures. He said better coordination among departments would make it easier for investors to move projects through the government system.

Monthly Review to Track Progress

The Chief Secretary will conduct monthly reviews of the investment projects. The exercise will track progress and help identify issues that could delay implementation.

Dr Saha asked departments to establish clear targets and complete assigned work within the prescribed deadlines.

“After signing the MoU, its implementation is now one of the government’s goals,” he said.

He asked the departments concerned to take an active role in identifying investor concerns and resolving them quickly.

The government now faces the task of translating the investment commitments from the business conclave into projects on the ground. The 100-day action plans and monthly reviews will form part of that implementation process. (With inputs from IANS)
