Agartala August 03: The floodlit encounter turned into a one-sided affair as the experienced Sports School side overwhelmed the newcomers with relentless attacking football.
The result highlighted the gulf in experience between the two teams. While Tripura Sports School displayed sharp passing, movement and finishing, Tilak Majhi AC struggled to cope with the pace of the game in their first-ever appearance in the state-level women’s league.
Sports School Set the Tempo Early
From the opening whistle, Tripura Sports School took complete control of the match. The players dominated possession and kept the Tilak Majhi defence under constant pressure.
The Mohanpur-based debutants found little room to build attacks. Their defenders remained busy throughout the contest as wave after wave of attacks came from the Sports School forwards.
The experienced side used the width of the field effectively and created scoring opportunities with ease. Quick passing and intelligent movement inside the penalty area repeatedly exposed the opposition defence.
Debutants Face a Tough Introduction
Tilak Majhi AC entered the competition with enthusiasm but lacked experience at this level. Most of their players have had limited exposure to full-sized football grounds and competitive state-level matches.
That inexperience became evident as the match progressed. The players struggled to maintain their shape and found it difficult to contain the fast-paced attacks launched by their opponents.
Despite the heavy defeat, the league offers valuable exposure for the young squad. Competing against stronger and more experienced teams is expected to help the newcomers improve as the tournament progresses.
Shriya Deb Leads the Goal Rush
Forward Shriya Deb produced the standout performance of the evening by scoring a brilliant hat-trick. Her pace, positioning and finishing kept the Tilak Majhi defence under constant pressure.

She received excellent support from her teammates, who also contributed freely to the scoreline.
Sariya Sinha, Thanpui Darlong, Kajalti Riyan and Sharmila Jamatia scored two goals each, showcasing the attacking depth of Tripura Sports School.
The remaining goals came from Shruti Jamatia, Jessica Jhara, Smriti Mog and Yalbok Jamatia, with each player finding the back of the net once.
The impressive spread of goals reflected the team’s collective attacking strength rather than dependence on a single player.
Player of the Match
For her outstanding display and three-goal performance, Shriya Deb was named the Player of the Match.
She remained a constant threat throughout the contest and played a key role in one of the biggest victories recorded in the league this season.
Strong Start to the Women’s Football League
Tripura Sports School entered the competition as one of the favourites for the title, and Monday’s performance justified that reputation.

For Tilak Majhi AC, the defeat may serve as a learning experience rather than a setback. The newcomers now have an opportunity to regroup, gain confidence and improve in the remaining league fixtures.
