ProMASS:DEC 06,2016: Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawarchand Gehlot has said that the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Bill, 2014 is listed in the Rajya Sabha for consideration and passage. Speaking at All India Radio’s phone-in programme Public Speak last night, Mr Gehlot said the Bill will enhance the reservation of Divyang persons from 4 percent to 5 percent in education and 3 to 4 percent in government jobs.
The Minister also said that three percent reservation is available for the Divyang persons in the government housing schems. He said the Centre is working on Universal Identity Card for the Divyangjan and the cards will be issued from January next year. Mr Gehlot said this single card will be valid for the entire country and will enable them to get all the facilities meant for them under various schemes. Mr. Gehlot said his Ministry has distributed 5 lakh aid and appliances to the Divyangjan so far.
