Tripura is accelerating its digital transformation by promoting investments in artificial intelligence (AI), data centres, semiconductor design and emerging technologies. The Directorate of Information Technology will present nine investment-ready projects at the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026, aiming to position the state as a leading technology and innovation hub in Northeast India.
Agartala: Tripura has set its sights on becoming a leading technology destination in Northeast India. The state government will use the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026 to showcase investment opportunities in artificial intelligence (AI), data centres, semiconductor design and other emerging digital sectors. The initiative reflects the government’s strategy to attract technology companies, strengthen digital infrastructure and create high-skilled employment.
Tripura shifts focus towards emerging technologies
The Directorate of Information Technology (DIT) has moved beyond promoting traditional IT services. It now aims to build an ecosystem that supports AI, electronics manufacturing, innovation and digital infrastructure.

Officials believe these sectors will drive the state’s next phase of economic growth. They also expect them to create new opportunities for startups, technology companies and skilled professionals.
The Directorate will showcase this vision during the two-day business conclave on July 9 and 10 at the Hapania International Fair Ground in Agartala. The summit will bring together policymakers, investors, entrepreneurs and industry leaders from across the country.
IT Pavilion to highlight investment-ready digital ecosystem
DIT will establish a dedicated IT Pavilion at the conclave. The pavilion will showcase Tripura’s digital ecosystem, policy framework and investment opportunities.
It will also serve as a single-window platform. Investors, startups and technology companies can directly interact with government officials and explore business opportunities.
The pavilion will feature the state’s IT infrastructure, digital policies and startup ecosystem. It will also display successful startup stories from Tripura.
AI Development Hub leads nine investment projects
Artificial Intelligence will remain the centrepiece of Tripura’s technology roadmap.
The Directorate plans to present nine investment-ready projects. The proposed Artificial Intelligence Development Hub stands out among them. Officials believe AI will play a crucial role in transforming governance, healthcare, education, agriculture and industrial services.
The government wants private investors to participate in developing AI-powered solutions and research facilities in the state.
Data centre infrastructure receives major push
Tripura also plans to attract investments in modern data centre infrastructure.
The rapid growth of cloud computing and digital services has increased demand for secure data storage. Officials believe Tripura can leverage this opportunity by developing world-class data centres.
Such investments could support businesses across Northeast India while creating jobs in cloud services, cybersecurity and digital operations.
Semiconductor design and electronics emerge as priority sectors
The Directorate has identified semiconductor design and electronics manufacturing as another strategic growth area.
It plans to establish an integrated Semiconductor Design and Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) Facility. The project aims to support India’s expanding semiconductor ecosystem while encouraging innovation in electronics design and manufacturing.
The initiative aligns with the country’s broader efforts to strengthen domestic semiconductor capabilities.
AVGC-XR and cybersecurity feature in technology roadmap
Tripura’s technology vision extends beyond AI and electronics.
The state plans to establish an Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR) Production and Skilling Hub. The facility will help develop skilled professionals for India’s fast-growing digital content industry.
DIT also proposes an Emerging Technologies Hub focused on cybersecurity products and Internet of Things (IoT) sensor networks. These technologies are expected to play a vital role in smart infrastructure and digital governance.
Policies support innovation and startup growth
The IT Pavilion will also showcase several policy initiatives.
These include the Tripura Startup Policy, Tripura Data Centre Policy and Tripura IT/ITeS Policy.
The Directorate believes these policies provide a favourable environment for investors and entrepreneurs. The pavilion will also promote investment opportunities in IT Parks, Incubation and Innovation Parks, BPOs, Call Centres and FinTech operations.
Industry response strengthens investor confidence
The Directorate has intensified its outreach efforts over the past few months.
Officials have approached more than 300 companies and signed over 35 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs). More than 100 IT-sector investors are expected to participate in the conclave.
Several leading organisations have already expressed interest in collaborating with the state. These include Salesforce, CtrlS Datacenters Limited, BSNL, SEAS Biotech, Defence and Space Robotics Laboratory (DSRL) and Telecommunications Consultants India Limited (TCIL). Their participation reflects growing confidence in Tripura’s digital ecosystem.
National outreach boosts Tripura’s digital profile
DIT has promoted Tripura’s technology ecosystem through investment summits and roadshows across India.
The department participated in the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi. It also organised investor roadshows in New Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Guwahati and Mumbai.
These engagements helped showcase Tripura’s strengths in artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, IT-enabled services and innovation. They also increased the state’s visibility among technology companies and investors.
Business conclave to attract investors
Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha will inaugurate the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026.
Union Minister for Communications and MDoNER Jyotiraditya M. Scindia will attend the event. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is expected to join virtually.
The conclave will feature Business-to-Government (B2G) meetings, investor interactions and the signing of several new investment agreements.
Tripura aims to become Northeast’s digital innovation hub
Based on the information available to Enewstime Editors’ Desk, it is obvious the latest technology push signals a broader economic shift.
The State government wants to build a knowledge-driven economy powered by artificial intelligence, semiconductor design, data centres and digital innovation. If the proposed projects attract sustained private investment, the state could emerge as one of Northeast India’s leading destinations for next-generation technology industries.
