June 14, 2018: The BJP-led Government has announced hike in pensions for accredited journalists from existing Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000. The Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said this while briefing media on decisions at civil secretariat in Agartala today.
He said, “There are altogether 112 accredited journalists in Tripura. Among them, the age of 37 scribes is above 55 years. The journalists will get the pension on completion of sixty years of age.”
He said, “The state government has to spend Rs. 3.70 lakh per month and Rs. 44.40 lakh per year for providing pension to the journalists.”
According to the Education minister, after Tamil Nadu Tripura is the second state to offer such a large-amount pension to the journalists.
The state cabinet has also decided to introduce e-Stamping system for transparency and public interest, he added.
“At present, the system is operational in 20 states of the country. Tripura will be the 21st state to introduce the e-Stamping system,” he said.
Apart from this, he said, the council of ministers decided to give relaxation on high-standard certificate in ranger course for the promotion of rangers.
Now, the Forest employees (rangers) would not need to produce the high-standard certificate in ranger course for promotion, he added.
Agriculture minister Pranajit Sinha Roy, Principal Secretary to Revenue department Monoj Kumar and Health secretary Samarjit Bhowmik among others attended the press conference.
