The Jampui hill Mizo convention has extended financial assistance to the persecution stricken Myanmar refugees and donated Rs 1 lakh to help them survive the humanitarian crisis they are undergoing.
General Secretary of the organization, Dr Zairemthiama Pachuau felt the military takeover was “illegal” and thus their organization was helping the Myanmarese refugees who took shelter in India.
“Jampui Hill Mizo Convention (MC) is happy to inform the public that today we gift of 100,000/- (Rupees One Lakh only) cash assistance to the Myanmarese refugees in India to help with the humanitarian crisis they are currently going through as a consequence of the illegal military takeover of the people’s rights and power”, a press statement undersigned by MC president Lalrawntlinga Sailo and general secretary Dr Zairemthiama Pachuau reads.
Dr Pachuau also said that people of Jampui hills were standing in solidarity with them. “At this time of inhuman suppression and persecution by the military, the Mizo people of Jampui Hill stand in solidarity with our brethren of Myanmar. It has been our wish and prayer that democracy and normalcy be restored at the earliest”, said the press statement.
