Covid positive undertrial fled but nabbed
An undertrial person, Litan Mian, who is a Covid positive patient escaped from Chandrapur Covid Care centre on Sunday morning.
Litan hails from Khupilong area under Killa police. Police force led by the Additional SP and SDPO rushed to the spot. Meanwhile, the Health Officer-in-charge of the Covid Care Centre also reached there. Later, Litan was found at his residence in Khupilong and sent to GB Covid Centre, Police sources said.
More than 700kg ganja recovered
Police recovered 706 kg ganja of worth more Rs 43.50 lakh from Teliamura and Panisagar in Tripura on Sunday.
Police led by ASI Bijoy Das ofTeliamura Traffic Unit detained a 6 wheeler lorry for vehicle checking. During checking police recovered 476 Kg dry ganja worth of 25 lakh under the sacs. Immediately police gave the information to Teliamura Police Station. On being informed Traffic DSP Bikramjit Sukla Das, SDPO Sonacharan Jamatia, OC of Teliamura Police Station Narugopal Deb rushed to the spot and detained 3 persons.
In another incident, a large contingent of police led by SDPO Souvik Dey and OC of Panisagar Police Station Sougata Chakma detained a 6 wheeler lorry from Dasher Koti area of National Highway at 10-30 a.m. today. After searching the lorry police recovered 230Kg ganja contained at 26 packets. The market value of the ganja is Rs.18.5 lakh. Then police detained the car driver Kiranjit Sinha and Assistant driver Ebsaw Sinha. Police filed a case against the detained persons under the NDPS act and started an investigation.
Train runs over woman
A 25-year old woman, Mampi Das, was run over by a train in Birchandra Nagar area under South Tripura District on Sunday. Her hand and a foot were severed and was taken in critical condition to Santirbazar District Hospital from where she was referred to GB Hospital. However, on the way, she succumbed.
