As the Covid patients across the country are struggling to access oxygen, panic among the Home Quarantine patients relating to oxygen accessibility in the State is palpable.

In view of the present situation, the premier news channel of Tripura, News Vanguard in association with Eastern Scientific Corporation of Bijoykumar Choumuhani, Maa Usha Charitable Trust of Bardowali and Tripura Air Products of Bodhjongnagar has launched an initiative, titled Prashashe Vanguard, in the AMC area. In the initial phase, the organizers aim at providing Oxygen to around 200 Covid patients free of cost.

In a press conference, editor of News Vanguard Sebak Bhattacharjee said this in the channel office on Monday. Secretary of Club Forum Sanjoy Pal, Agartala Press Club Secretary Pranab Sarkar, Biswanath Aiyn Das of Eastern Scientific Corp, Dr. Sushanta Roy of Maa Charitable Trust were also present in the press conference.

Any Home Quarantine covid patient who needs Oxygen may send Whatsapp message to 9612817705 and 8794978353. In the message, the concerned must attach a Covid test report, documents for Home Quarantine, screenshot Oxygen Saturation and address.

“Corona menace is looming large in Tripura and patient’s inflow in the hospitals is increasing. At this point, several patients have been put in-home quarantine and many of these patients may need Oxygen support”, Bhattacharjee said. He also said, scarcity of Oxygen cylinders in the open market has pushed up the price exuberantly. However, News Vanguard will stand by the side of the suffering patients with the supply of free of cost Oxygen Cylinder through ‘Prashashe Vanguard’ initiative, Bhattacharjee said and added, the patient’s family must ensure that the Cylinder is returned to Vanguard storeroom within 24 hours.

Speaking in the Press Conference, Pranab Sarkar assured that they would try to expand the initiative in all parts of the State. He also said that local clubs will play a crucial role in the initiative. Sarkar also pointed out that even though the patient’s family would have to bear the Cylinder carrying costs, the organizers would ensure free delivery for BPL and needy families.

Sanjoy Pal, Biswanath Das and Dr. Roy lauded the initiative and assured that they would work to bring more patients under the ambit of this unique humanitarian initiative.
