Number of recoveries from Covid19 is increasing steadily – but Covid19 positivity rate hovering above 5 per cent and the fatality rate is a tad higher than 1 per cent in Tripura According daily media bulletin, 427 patients recovered and 426 new cases were detected – however, 5 persons died of the Corona during last 24 hours. A total of 7184 tests were conducted.
Cumulative total of number of patient recovered in the State stands at 38,466 and number of active cases is 7,529 till date. Total Death toll has increased to 467. Recovery rate in the State is 82.79 per cent.
Among the eight districts, West Tripura is continuing to record the highest number of Covid positive cases – 160 during last 24 hours. South District registered 64 new cases closely followed by Sepahijala district with 60 fresh cases. Dhalai and North districts recorded 43 and 30 cases while Gomati, Unakoti and Khowai registered 29, 26 and 14 cases respectively.
The State Government has adopted multiple-prone strategy to combat the second wave of Covid 19. Across the State Night Curfew was imposed and several restrictions were imposed all the Urban Local Bodies.
As West district is recording consistently high positive cases, Corona Curfew along with Night Curfew in Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) area was imposed. Only emergency services, stand alone shops etc were allowed. These steps aimed at minimizing the gatherings in public places and break the chain of the virus. Non-essentials shops remain shut, vehicle movements are minimum – however, gathering in markets remains a major concern for the administration. Police and Administration are taking stock of the situation.
Also, aggressive vaccination drive has been under taken to ensure that intended beneficiaries get vaccinated. In Tripura, both Covisheild and Covaxin were administered. Besides, administration has also focused on making mask wearing mandatory. Several NGOs have become active and distributing food to less privileged persons. Also volunteers of different clubs are assisting Home quarantined patients with supplying necessities. As availability of Oxygen is a major concern, steps have been taken to ensure Oxygen supply to Home quarantined patients in AMC area.
