The Youth Wing of Mizo Convention (MC-YW), Jampui Hills in Tripura called off its proposed indefinite bandh previously scheduled from July 12 after the meeting with the government representative at Vanghmun YMA Office chaired by Pijush Deb, BDO, Jampui Hill RD Block, today became successful.
The bandh was previously being called to press the government to execute immediate major repair of PWD road from Hmunpui to Damcherra.
The meeting unanimously agreed on the following points:
The concerned department of the government will commence work on minor repair of 22 kilometres of the stretch of road from Hmunpui trijunction to Thumsarai on July 13, 2021 (Tuesday) and continue until the completion of the whole stretch.
Also, the major widening (to double lane) project of Hmunpui trijunction to Damcherra, funded from NEC, costing rupees 88 crores, will commence within the next three months as financial sanction was recently done yesterday July 9, 2021.
The meeting, in addition, agreed to monitor the works as joint monitoring committee under the chairmanship of the Block Development Officer, and meet as necessary.
The Youth Wing of Mizo Convention, on their part, having full faith in the commitment forthcoming from the government agreed to temporarily call of the proposed indefinite bandh.
