Unidentified person(s) pulled out a body of a woman from her grave who died on Friday (July 9). Her corpse was found around lying 30-40 ft from from her grave.
Bhanu Shil, a Baishnavi of Netaji Pally in Belonia under South Tripura, died due to old age related ailments on Friday. As per the religious practice, the 65-year old Baishnavi was buried instead of being cremated.
Local people buried her in a grave at Baroj Colony on Friday evening. However, a local noticed that soil on the grave was displaced. He shared this with his fellow villagers who assembled near the grave.
After awhile, they also noticed that the body of the woman was not in the grave.
“A closer look at the grave gave us goosebumps. The corpse of the Baishnavi was missing from the grave – it was not there”, a local resident said and added that local people started searching the body immediately. Later it was found around 30-40ft away from the grave. The corpse was found lying in a jungle in half-naked condition.
“Initially we thought that this was an act of a dog or jackal. But there was no mark of wounds in the body”, a youth said.
At this moment locals started suspecting that the perpetrator was engaged or attempted to engage in ‘necrophilia’. The perpetrator might be a drug addict or a mentally disoriented person, local people claimed.
Meanwhile, Police reached the spot and initiated a probe. However, this bizarre incident has trigger sensation among the locals.
“We have never heard of such things in our life. We hope that Police will be able to untangle the case and identify the perpetrator(s) and the motive”, a woman commented.
