A group of 15 Rohingyas was detained at Badarpur. According to the detained Rohingyas, they were heading to Agartala. However, their final destination is yet to be known – and Police are interrogating them.     

On their way to Agartala, 15 Rohingya people were detained at Badarpur Station in Assam on Saturday. During interrogation detained Rohingya people revealed that they were coming from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh. Among the detained 15 Rohingyas, there are six children, three women and six youths. The group arrived at Siliguri from Aligarh and later boarded Kanchanjunga Express. They de-boarded at Badarpur Station on Wednesday. They spent two days at a hotel in Badarpur. Today, they came to the Badarpur Station to board on Silchar – Agartala train.

However, rail police after noticing their movements became suspicious and detained them. Six mobile phones and Rs 50000 were recovered from their possession. According to Police source, the detained Rohingyas had a contact with person in Tripura and as per the instruction of that person, the 15-member Rohingyas were moving to Agartala. They have been handed over to Badarpur Police.  They were identified as Rohingya, however no documents pertaining to Indian citizenship were found.
