Two BSF Jawans were martyred in Tripura on Tuesday in a fire exchange with militants.
An exchange of fire between BSF patrolling jawans and some militants took place near Indo-Bangla Border area in Tripura on Tuesday. In the exchange of fire, two BSF jawans became martyrs, said PRO of BSF TRIPURA FRONTIER in a press release.
The press release read, “Today (03/08/2021) at about 0630 hrs, an exchange of fire between BSF patrolling party and some militants took place in general area of BOP R C Nath, Ex – 64 Bn BSF, Sector HQ BSF Panisagar in the bordering region under Police Station- Chawmanu, Distt- Dhalai Tripura”.
It further read, “During the fierce encounter, 02 BSF personnel namely SI Bhuru Singh & CT Raj Kumar sustained fatal injuries & lost their lives. As per the blood strains available at the spot, militants have reportedly sustained some injuries. Both our martyrs have fought valiantly before succumbing to their injurie”.
According to the press release, a massive search operation has been launched in the area to nab the militants.
IANS, Agartala adds: Outlawed extremists gunned down two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel including a sub-inspector rank official and looted their sophisticated arms in Tripura on Tuesday, police said.
A police official in Agartala said that during patrolling, the suspected National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) militants attacked the BSF troopers at Manikpur tribal village leading to a fierce encounter in which two para-military personnel were killed on the spot.
Senior BSF and police officials have rushed to the spot, 150 km north of Agartala. Further details of the incidents are awaited.
