Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb strongly condemned the attack on BSF personnel by militants at Chawmanu area under Dhalai district on Tuesday early morning.
In the attack, two BSF personnel of the 64 battalion – Sub Inspector Bhuru Singh and constable Raj Kumar – were killed and their arms were looted. The militant attack prior to the Independence Day caused sensation among the people in Chawmanu and other parts of the district.

A massive search operation started to nab the militants. Even as no groups claimed the responsibility of the mindless killing, it is suspected that NLFT militants of Biswamohan faction were behind the ambush on the BSF jawans.
Meanwhile, condemning the attack, Biplab Kumar Deb tweeted, “I strongly condemn the cowardly attack against our BSF personnel in Dhalai. The sacrifices of our brave security personnel shall not go in vain. India stands shoulder to shoulder with the families of our brave martyrs. @BSF_Tripura”.
Minister of State for Social Justice Pratima Bhowmik also condemned the attack. She tweeted, “Strongly condemn the brutal attack on @BSF_India Jawans in Chawmanu under Dhalai District, Tripura. The sacrifice of our two bravehearts shall not go vain . India stands shoulder to shoulder with the families of our brave martyrs”.
Paying tributes to the brave hearts, Tripura BJP president Dr Manik Saha wrote, “I strongly condemn and protest against the barbaric attacks on BSF personnel. I pay my respects to the heroic Jawans and extend my deepest condolences to bereaved family members”.
Besides, several other political leaders also vented anger at the ambush on BSF jawans and condemned the attack.
Netizens were also vocal against the barbaric act of the militants.
