Alert ONGC officials helped to avert a major mishap after a gas leak was detected in one of its gas wells.
On Friday, local people of Devtamura of Dhananjoy Nagar ADC village under Hrishyamukh block in South Tripura district detected a gas leak from Well No Gajalia 1. This triggered panic in the area.
Local villagers informed the Fire Service personnel as well as intimidated SDM Manik Lal Das and Police administration. Fire men from Hrishyamukh and Manubazar rushed to the spot.
Meanwhile, ONGC personnel also swung into action and reached the spot. They managed to plug the leak. It is learnt, the gas started leaking out due to some mechanical glitch which the ONGC personnel fixed.
SDM Das also reached the spot and took stock of the situation there. Later speaking to the media, SDM Das said, ONGC personnel took prompt action and fixed the problem – there is no more gas leak from the Well now, he commented.
