BJP-TMC battle field shifts from Bengal to Tripura. Abhishek arrives Tripura for second time in 7 days, go back slogan greetes him. All the arrested 14 TMC leaders released on bail

 

Bengal Trinamool Congress leaders are accusing the ruling BJP of throttling democracy in Tripura while BJP is raising the same accusation against TMC in Bengal. Allegations and counter allegations among BJP and TMC are pushing the political mercury high in Tripura – it seems the battle field has been shifted to Tripura. Road blockades, tension and chaos are causing troubles for common people of the State.

 

The situation took a turn for worse after Khowai Police arrested 14 TMC leaders mostly from West Bengal on early Sunday morning.

 

Earlier, vehicles of these TMC leaders were vandalized by miscreants and at least a couple of leaders received injuries on Saturday. As the leaders were returning to Agartala on Saturday evening, Police stopped them at Baijalbari area under Khowai district due to security concern. The 14-member of TMC team was reportedly told that there was large gathering at Sidhai-Mohanpur area.

 

The TMC team was detained at Baijalbari PS and later shifted to Dhalabil police line for security reasons.

 

On Sunday early morning, all of the 14-member team was arrested due to violation of Covid norms the Epidemic Disease Act- 1987.

 

Soon, top brass of TMC was informed about whole incident. Another team of TMC leaders from West Bengal led by its All India general secretary Abhishek Banerjee reached the Khowai police station to get the party men released. This was Banerjee’s second visit within a week.

 

After Banerjee and the team reached Khowai Police station, ‘go back’ slogan greeted them. However, Banerjee along with Bengal Minister Bratya Basu, Rajya Sabha member Dola Sen and TMC leader Kunal Ghosh got involved in heated arguments with Police. Subal Bhowmik who recently joined TMC also present in Khowai Police station.

 

During the argument, TMC leaders reportedly misbehaved with the Police. They accused Police of favouring the ruling party.

 

Amidst slogans and counter slogans, the 14 TMC workers were produced before the court around 2 pm.

 

On the way to Khowai court, the vehicles of Bratya Basu, two lawyers and the vehicle of Subal Bhowmik were attacked. After hearing till 4 pm, they all were granted bail on local sureties and personal bonds.

 

The TMC MPs are very likely to raise the issue in the parliament on Monday. Meanwhile, a whatsapp message from AITC media team said, all the injured TMC members will be flown back to Kolkata on urgent basis for medical purpose.
