Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and State BJP president Dr Manik Saha held discussions with BJP central leaders including All India BJP president JP Nadda in New Delhi on Thursday.
In the wake of emergence of TIPRA Motha in Tripura, the discussions between the leaders assume importance and new alignment of political forces is very much likely.
As the State will go for Assembly Polls in 2023, talks with the Central leadership are well expected. Apart from JP Nadda, Deb and Dr Saha had met BJP general secretary (organization) B L Santosh, party’s Tripura observer Vinod Sonkar and national general secretary of the party, Sunil Deodhar.

During the meeting with the BJP chief JP Nadda, the Chief Minister and party’s state unit president held threadbare discussions on the prospect of an alliance between BJP and TIPRA Motha for the 2023 assembly elections, according to party sources.
The state BJP, according to sources, is considering an alliance with the Indigenous-based regional party TIPRA Motha that won 20 seats alone in the last ADC election.
The party leaders reportedly discussed the importance of the alliance in view of the recent political activities of Trinamool Congress in the state.
The Chief Minister in a tweet said that he along with the state BJP chief had discussions with party chief J.P. Nadda, general secretary (organization) B.L. Santosh and party’s Tripura observer Vinod Sonkar.
They, according to the tweet, discussed various organizational matters as well as the performance of the government.
In a separate tweet, Deb also shared the pictures of his meeting with BJP national secretary Sunil Deodhar in New Delhi on Thursday. Deb also recalled the memories of his work with Deodhar.
“Delighted to meet old friend and @BJP4India National Secretary Shri @Sunil_Deodhar ji. We go back a long way and I fondly remember our days working together to strengthen the party,” Deb tweeted.
Deodhar also tweeted about the meeting and recalled old memories of how they fought together against the cruel CPIM’s Regime in Tripura.
BJP state president Dr. Manik Saha and party’s state general secretary Tinku Roy were also present during the courtesy meet at Deodhar’s Delhi residence.
