Forest Minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia visited the North district on Wednesday.  His visit mainly focused on holding talks with the agar traders and farmers of the District.

 

 

The Minister first met the members of the All Tripura Agar Association at the District Forest Office. He then came to North Phulbari in Kadamtala and inspected the agar garden as well as agar industries relating to Agar trees.

Jamatia exuded confidence that Agar Industries would lead to the huge economic growth of the State.

“The people associated with the Agar cultivation and Agar related industries will be benefitted with the initiative of the Government and the economic condition of the people will improve immensely.

 

Besides, the taxes earned as revenue will also be beneficial for the government”, he opined.  

 

Charting out plans for the growth of the Agar industries, Jamatia said, the state government will hold a buyer-seller meet in Agartala next September in which traders from foreign countries are also likely to take part.

 

Later, the All Tripura Agar Association handed over a memorandum to the Minister.

 

In the memorandum, the Association mentioned several important demands including setting up of agar market at Kadamtala.

 

During his visit, Kadamtala Panchayat Samiti chairman Subrata Dev and concerned officials accompanied the minister.   

 

Country-made gun recovered

 

Security personnel recovered a country-made gun from a forest area at Hazrapara village in Tuithampui area under Teliamura.

 

In a joint search operation, the TSR jawans and Teliamura police recovered the country-made gun.

 

The incident took place on Tuesday night. Based on a tip-off, the local police of Teliamura police station jointly with the TSR jawans search the forest area and recovered the gun. No one was arrested till the report filing.
