The tourism sector of the State has received a major boost as the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has sanctioned more than Rs 500 crore loans.
Tourism Minister Pranajit Singha Roy said on Tuesday, “the ABD has given its approval for sanctioning more than Rs 500 crore in loan for promoting and development of Tourism sector”.
The State government is committing to ensure a paradigm shift in the tourism sector and working to open a new horizon for the Infrastructural development of the tourism sector in the State, Singha Roy asserted.
He also said, “PWMP of Tourism components has given a presentation for tourism development in the state-funded by the ADB”.
Talking about the utilization of the sanctioned ADB loans, the Tourism Minister said, the first phase of work will commence from April next.
“The first phase of work of Rs 175,25 crore will be started from April 2022”, the Minister commented.
The State Government is regularly upgrading the facilities at the tourist spots of the State – the recent being the construction of Helipad at the Narkel Kunj in Dumboor. Amenities in other tourist spots are also getting a facelift.
With the Covid threat is fading away, the Tourism department will organize a three-day Bharat-Bangla Paryatan Utsav from February 9 to promote the tourism sector.
In the three-day programme Bharat-Bangla Paryatan Utsav, freedom fighters of Tripura and Bangladesh, political personalities, artists, litterateurs, intellectuals, tour operators and Hotel owners of Kolkata and other North-eastern states.
On an opening day, cultural programmes and a traditional Food festival will be held. A tour will be conducted with the tour operators and Hotel owners in different tourist spots in the State on February 10 next. A colourful rally will be organized on a valedictory day on February 11 next.
