The incumbent government, after assuming power, initiated steps for the higher education of the ITI passed students, said Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Tuesday.
“Earlier, after passing ITI, students would have to get admitted again in class XI. We have simplified the procedure through a notification. Despite Covid Pandemic, more than 400 ITI passed students have got government or private jobs or become Self-reliant”, Deb after inaugurating State of Art Building of Women Industrial Training Institute, built under Model ITI scheme of the central government at Indranagar on Tuesday.
Deb visited different sections of the new State of the Art building which comes under the Industry & Commerce Department. The building was built spending total 8 crore rupees, out of that Rs 7 crore 20 lakh was granted by the central government and Rs 80 lakh was granted by the state government.
The total area is 806.40 square meters. The building includes Cosmetology, Computer-Aided Embroidery Design and Surveyor. 40 students can seek training in each of these trade sections.
The Chief Minister reiterated the present government will not make any sort of compromise with those attached with illicit drug business and none shall be spared.
Tripura is now moving ahead at a new pace in the period of the present government. He said, people’s income has increased in the state as well as farmers’ monthly income has increased to some extent. There are 26 thousand SHGs in the state at present, to which about 3.5 lakh women are attached. Its revenue has increased to about Rs 1 thousand crore.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized women empowerment to build a self-reliant country. The state government is also moving in the same direction.
A positive environment has been created in the state presently for setting up of new industries. The demand of efficient people will be met from the students of such ITIs.
Industry & Commerce Minister Manoj Kanti Deb in the inaugural programme said, ITI is the most important institute to build self-dependent Tripura. There are a total of 19 ITIs in the state at present and 7 new ITIs were set up in 4 years of the government. A proposal has been sent to the central government recently to set up more ITI.
TIDC Chairman Tinku Roy, Secretary of Industry & Commerce department Dr. P. K. Goyal and Director of the department Swapna Debnath were present in the programme.
