JP Nadda, the All India president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be in a two-day Tripura visit on August 28-29 next. During his visit, Nadda will address a ‘historic’ public rally at Khumulwng, the Head Quarters of the Tripura Tribal Area Autonomous District Council (TTAAD), said Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) Minister of Tripura Sushanta Chowdhury.

In a social media post, Chowdhury wrote,  “Bharatiya Janata Party All India President Adarani Jagat Prakash Nadda-ji will be coming on a two-day visit to Tripura on August 28-29. A historic public meeting will be held at Khumlwng during his visit”.

JP Nadda’s visit assumes a lot of importance as the State is readying up for crucial Polls in Village Councils under TTAADC. With the emergence of TIPRA Motha led by its chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarma in the TTAADC elections, BJP is working overtime to snatch ground in its favour. BJP leaders are regularly visiting TTAADC areas and are trying to woo the Janajati people.

The main plank of the BJP is the developmental initiatives for the Janajati people of the State and the central governments. BJP leaders are also highlighting benefits of the double engine government. Already, benefits BJP’s sustained campaigns in the District Council areas have started delivering good results.

ICA Minister held a joining programme in his Majlishpur Assembly Constituency where 860 voters from Six Village Council areas joined BJP quitting Tipra Motha, IPFT and other parties.

According to Political experts, Tipra Motha prevailed in the TTAADC election at the cost of BJP’s ally IPFT – however, BJP’s clout remained intact and almost all the BJP nominated candidates won in the TTAADC polls. However, its ally IPFT drew a blank.

With IPFT is facing political extinction, BJP took up the cuddles and continued its aggressive campaigns in the TTAADC areas. To bolster the ongoing campaign, JP Nadda will address a gathering – which will be a historical rally according to the BJP leaders – at Khumulwng.

Preparations for Nadda’s rally are going on in full swing. ICA Minister Sushanta Chowdhury accompanied by Bharatiya Janata Party’s Assam and Tripura Organizational Mahamantri Phanindra Nath Sharma, Janajati Welfare Minister Rampad Jamatia, general secretaries of State BJP unit Tinku Roy, Papiya Dutta and others visited the rally site and monitored the progress of works.
