President of India Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to reach Agartala in a two-day Tripura visit on Wednesday (October 12).
According to a government press release, a programme will be held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan in Agartala in which the President will virtually inaugurate newly constructed MLA Hostel at Capital Complex and will virtually lay foundation stones for seven projects on Wednesday.
The President will lay foundation stones for upgradation of Hmunpui– Damchera road, improvement of Jatanbari– Mandirghat via Trithamukh road, Maharaja Birendra Kishore Manikya Museum and Cultural Centre at Pushpabanta Palace, Darbar Hall and ancillary building, multi-storied building at Gurkhabasti, infrastructure development of six higher secondary schools in different locations of Tripura, nine 100-seated boys/girls hostel, Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Agartala.
Governor of Tripura, Satyadeo Narain Arya, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma will also remain present in the programme.
Meanwhile, Security has been beefed up across the city in view of the President’s visit.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday evening, West Tripura District Magistrate Debapriya Bardhan along with SP West Sankar Debnath announced the tour programme as well as briefed about the security measures.
Bardhan to the media, the President is scheduled to land at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport on Wednesday at 11.15 am where she will be accorded a reception. The President will move to take part in the inauguration of the Judicial Academy at TIT, Narsingarh and will also lay the foundation stone of Tripura National Law University.
After that President Droupadi Murmu will attend virtual inauguration and foundation stone laying programme in Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan.
A civic reception programme will be organized at Agartala Town Hall in the evening for the President where Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, among others, will remain present.
On the second day of her two-day visit (Thursday October 13), the President is also scheduled to flag off Guwahati to Kolkata express up to Agartala and extension of Agartala-Jiribam-Agartala Jan Satabdi express up to Khongsang (Manipur) with new LHB rake and Vistadome coach at 8.45am.
The president is scheduled to visit Matabari at Udaipur in a chopper to offer prayer at the Tripureswari temple on October 13 before leaving the state for Guwahati.
Security has been beefed up in Agartala and its adjoining areas in view of the President’s visit to the state.
Speaking about the security arrangements, SP West Shankar Debnath said a high-level security team from Delhi already arrived to oversee the security arrangement for the President’s visit. The team visited the programme venues to review the security measures taken by the state police.
He also said, as per security protocols, security personnel in adequate numbers have been deployed across the city and its vicinity for the Presidents’ visit.
The SP West sought cooperation from all concerned.
