Cong-BJP clash : Tripura Police arrest 4
In aftermath of clashes between BJP and Congress at Routkhola in Tripura on Wednesday (Nov 2), Police arrested four persons on November 3.
A local court sent them to 5-day Police remand. The arrested persons are Prabir Saha, Bapan Das, Sohail Rana and Madhav Debnath.
Police also seized a vehicle “used” during the violence. Dog squad and bomb squad reached the spot where Congress supporters assembled and trouble took a violent turn.
Two crude bombs were recovered and bomb squad personnel diffused those.
Unruly situation prevails in Amarpur College
For the last two days, Amarpur College in Tripura was witnessing chaos and heated moments. Situation became tense on Thursday (Nov 3).
Trouble started after Police went to the College to arrest three students, supporters of ABVP, against whom some of the alleged Tipra Motha activists lodged a complaint on Wednesday after an altercation between the ABVP supporters and a clerk of the College. It was reported, alleged Tipra Motha supporters came forward in support of the clerk and got involved in an altercation with the ABVP students of the college.
Later, a complaint was lodged against three students and accordingly Police went to the College to arrest them.
However, ABVP supporters put up resistance and shielded the three accused. Meantime, the other group of students locked the college gate in retaliation.
This caused an unruly situation in the college campus and SDPO Prabir Pal along with a large posse of Police rushed to the spot. Police cleared the outsiders from the campus premises and persuaded the students to open the College gate. Police along with the College authority and students’ leaders are holding meetings – till the evening no one was arrested.
While the behaviour of the ABVP students drew a flake, gathering of outsiders, allegedly Tipra Motha supporters also came under criticism. Guardians of the students appealed to all the political parties to ensure peace in the college campus.
