The Assam Police has recognized and commended the remarkable achievements of ace pugilist Lovlina Borgohain, awarding her the prestigious state DGP’s Commendation Medal, as reported by officials on Thursday.

Lovlina’s outstanding performance at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, where she clinched a silver medal, earned her this accolade from the Assam Police. In a special ceremony held at the Assam Police headquarters in Guwahati on Wednesday, the sporting sensation was celebrated for her remarkable feat.

Notably,  The reigning world champion boxer Lovlina Borgohain bagged a silver medal in the women’s 75kg final at the 19th Asian Games after losing 5:0 unanimous loss against China’s Li Qian in the final.

As a gesture of gratitude and goodwill, Lovlina Borgohain also presented the police department with a pair of autographed boxing gloves, further solidifying the bond between the accomplished athlete and the Assam Police.

Expressing his appreciation, Assam’s Director General of Police, G.P. Singh, shared his sentiments, stating, “Assam Police felicitated Asian Games medalist, our own DySP Lovlina Borgohai at Police Hq Guwahati on grand success at 19th Asian Games at Hangzhou. She has also been awarded the Assam DGP Commendation Medal. She also presented a signed pair of boxing gloves to us.”

In addition to the recognition from the Assam Police, the Assam Olympic Association has announced a monetary reward of Rs 1 lakh for Lovlina Borgohain, and Rs 25,000 each for the other participants from Assam who competed in the Asian Games. This gesture of support underscores the importance of recognizing and encouraging the exceptional talents of the region in the field of sports. (Edited)
