State secretary of CPIM in Tripura, Jitendra Choudhary fired verbal salvos at the BJP and its new ally TIPRA Motha Party (TMP).

He said BJP formed the government in Tripura securing only around 39 percent votes. The CPIM leader accused the TMP of splitting the tribal votes making it easy for the BJP to win in the 2023 Assembly polls.

Choudhury was speaking at a public rally of the CPIM’s tribal wings – Gana Mukti Parishad (GMP), Tribal students and youth organisations at Santirbazar under the South Tripura District on Monday.

Training guns at BJP, Choudhury alleged there is extreme political instability in the country. He referred to recent resignation of Election Commissioner Arun Goel and criticized the BJP.

Jitendra Chowdhury claimed BJP is non-existent in South India and there is a tug-of-war in the North.

“There is no work for the youth all over the country. The Modi government has been in power for the last ten years. Modi’s guarantee of 2 crore jobs per year, among others, was a bluff”, he alleged.

Commenting on the State politics, Choudhury slammed the saffron party alleging that BJP government in Tripura failed to implement its Vision Document – a list of pre poll promises published in 2018.

Choudhury also lashed out at the TMP and alleged the TMP supremo has been misleading the simple-minded tribals.

He also took a jibe at the TMP over hunger strike followed by Delhi meeting which ultimately resulted in tripartite agreement and withdrawal of hunger strike.

He pointed out soon after his agreement and withdrawal of hunger strike, TMP – which was the main opposition party in the Assembly, switched side and joined BJP-IPFT government.

According to Choudhury, all these justified CPIM’s allegations that the TMP helped BJP by fielding candidates in 22 seats unreserved seats.

Pointing out prevailing situation in Tripura prior to 1978 when the Leftist formed government in the State, Choudhury claimed the State witnessed development owing to movement of the GMP and the then Left Front government.

He urged the people to be united against the BJP and teach them a lesson in the next election.

GMP leader Parikshit Murasingh also came down heavily on BJP and TMP. He urged the people to stand up against both BJP and TMP and defeat them in the ensuing Lok Sabha Elections.
